Opening Day Rocks Crested Butte!

ski cbOpening Day!

It’s here! Crested Butte Mountain Resort for the 2017/2018 Opening Day (November 23, 2017 – April 8, 2018) !

Dick Eflin’s dream of starting his own ski area became a reality on Thanksgiving Day 1961 with a Doppelmeier T-bar and a rope tow borrowed from Western State College. Then in 1962, a Telecar Gondola was installed running 7,800 feet long and rising over 2,000 vertical feet. Crested Butte Mountain Resort would not be on the map as “Colorado’s Last Great Ski Town” without the efforts of Dick Eflin. He also played an active role in the local community, helping to revive the mining town. He served for 25 years as the president of the Mt. Crested Butte Water & Sanitation District, was on the Town Council, helped start the first regional museum, owned and operated the Eflin Steak House, and along with Bill Allen, built and operated the Artichoke Restaurant. Enjoy a great ski day on Mount Crested Butte ski area! See you on the slopes!  Sleep at Grand Lodge on Mount Crested Butte!

2017_Down-and-DirtyDown and Dirty Mountain Manners for Locals

June 3, 9:00 am

Mountain Manners was created as a response from locals about “loving our public lands to death.”

Collaboratively conceived and sponsored by the Crested Butte Wildflower Festival, Mountain Manners serve as a relatable, easy to remember, fun and eye-catching educational campaign to teach recreators about outdoor etiquette. Mountain Manners also sponsors Peak Protectors, a training for local citizens to educate recreators about proper outdoor etiquette while on the trails.

Offered early in the season for locals to learn how to treat our “crib” right!
