I’m a believer! It’s hard to imagine a more beautiful place for your next eco-tourism adventure than Crested Butte, Gunnison County, in the heart of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains.
Featuring pristine rivers filled with thriving fish and insect populations, wildlife of many varieties, an abundance of wildflowers and millions of acres of public lands, the area offers some of the richest eco-tourism opportunities available. Summer in Crested Butte, Mt. Crested Butte, Almont, and Gunnison offers an abundance of opportunities to get out and explore the wilderness surrounding our local communities and countless chances to explore the natural world around. In winter time, many of our animals hibernate, but there are still eco-tourism opportunities, including winter photography workshops and other adventures out in the snow.
Wildflower Capital of Colorado, Crested Butte
Crested Butte, Colorado was officially declared the official “Wildflower Capital” of the state in 1990, recognizing the diversity and beauty of wildflowers in the Crested Butte area. The Crested Butte Wildflower Festival offers tours and classes throughout the summer, or visit the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory and learn a little bit about the biology that results in our spectacular wildflower displays.
